Dr. Christy James Guepet is a board-certified OB-GYN, fellowship-trained urogynecologist, and certified menopause specialist. She is co-owner of Southern Women’s Specialists in Fairhope, Alabama, where her practice focuses on individualized care for women in perimenopause and menopause. Dr. Guepet is also co-host of the This is Menopause podcast, where she shares clear, evidence-based information and practical support for women navigating midlife health changes.
Dr. Guepet is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery. Earlier in her career, she practiced as a surgical gynecologist, performing robotic hysterectomies, advanced laparoscopic surgery, and urogynecologic reconstruction. She later shifted her clinical focus to the care of women during perimenopause and menopause.
Originally from Andalusia, Alabama, Dr. Guepet graduated from Duke University and completed medical school and residency training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She later returned closer to home in Fairhope, where she and her medical partner, Dr. Angela McCool-Pearson, built a practice focused on midlife women’s health.
Throughout her career, Dr. Guepet has cared for women seeking guidance on menopause hormone therapy, including testosterone therapy when appropriate. With nearly 25 years in clinical practice, she has worked closely with women seeking evidence-based guidance and individualized treatment options during menopause and perimenopause. Her work focuses on improving access to informed, compassionate care and helping women better understand their health options.
Dr. Guepet is a member of The Menopause Society and the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health. Through her partnership with MyHealthTeam, she helps support medically accurate, science-based conversations about menopause and women’s health.
Dr. Guepet believes connection and community support can play an important role in menopause care. She emphasizes the value of women learning from and supporting one another throughout perimenopause and menopause, especially when health misinformation is common online. At Southern Women’s Specialists, informed and supportive conversations are a central part of the practice’s approach to care.
She also believes menopause care often takes time, persistence, and a collaborative relationship between a woman and her healthcare team. Her decades in practice have reinforced the importance of helping patients stay informed and engaged as they find the approach that works for them.
Outside of work, Dr. Guepet enjoys traveling, gardening, spending time outdoors, and being with her husband, Tray, and their family. She describes her faith as an important foundation in both her personal life and her work in women’s healthcare.
