Dr. Angela McCool-Pearson is a board-certified OB-GYN and certified menopause specialist. She is co-owner of Southern Women’s Specialists in Fairhope, Alabama, where her practice focuses on perimenopause and menopause, sexual health, and overall wellness. After decades in women’s health, Dr. McCool-Pearson has focused her work on helping women navigate the menopause transition through clear, evidence-based care.
Dr. McCool-Pearson began private practice in 1999, providing both obstetric and gynecologic care. After delivering babies for nine years, she shifted her focus to advanced operative gynecology before ultimately dedicating her practice fully to menopause and perimenopause care. She has prescribed menopause hormone therapy throughout decades of evolving medical evidence, including in the years following the Women’s Health Initiative, and has experience with estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone therapies. Her approach emphasizes individualized care based on clinical evidence and patient outcomes.
In collaboration with her medical partner, Dr. Christy Guepet, Dr. McCool-Pearson helped build a practice designed to support women who often struggle to find knowledgeable menopause care. Together, they also launched the This is Menopause podcast to share practical menopause information with women beyond the clinic. The podcast grew from their goal of making trustworthy, practical menopause information easier to access.
As someone experiencing menopause herself, Dr. McCool-Pearson brings clinical expertise and personal understanding to her work. She partners closely with patients to help them make informed decisions and feel supported throughout this stage of life.
Dr. McCool-Pearson is also a member of the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health. She serves as an advisor to MyHealthTeam, where she helps ensure health information is evidence-based, practical, and useful for readers seeking guidance and support.
Outside of clinical practice, Dr. McCool-Pearson prioritizes many of the same healthy habits she encourages in her patients, including strength training, cardiovascular fitness, and long-term wellness practices. She lives with her husband, Bill, and values time with their blended family of children and grandchildren, as well as involvement in their church and local community.
